21 things I’ve learned in my 21st Years!

Hello dear blog friends, I hope you’re all doing well.

Turning 21 is such a milestone, at least for me. I have never appreciated what I’ve learned in life as I do now.

Although my birthday was two months ago, I was busy with my exams. So without further ado, here are 21 things that I’ve learned in 21 years; that I, kind of, summed it up all in one video:

Spending Ramadan Alone..

For the past two years, I’ve been spending the most of Ramadan alone. I’m not complaining, though, I’m just going to tell you guys how it was etc… Because I know that there are a lot of Muslims that converted to Islam who fast alone, get up for suhoor without someone waking them up & breaking their fast all alone. Unlike us, who are brought up in Muslim families.

With that being said, let me tell you that spending Ramadan alone is NOT that bad thing after all. Besides missing the togetherness and warmth when you’re home, You can completely see who you are as a Muslim detached from the ones who kept you grounded so far with no one making you Iftar or waking you up for suhoor. Your worship of Allah, the Almighty, is not the same anymore. You start observing whether you’re doing things because it’s the “right” thing to do or you’re doing it for the sake of Allah, the Almighty.

However, once you think about life and how it is becoming ever so fleeting and that it is very easy to get swept up in this mad world. All you want to do next is to spend time with the people you care about and you enjoy with.

Ramadan may be a month of mourning for some people, it may be a month of more hunger and suffering for others. The amount of terrorist acts in the past days is so aching and sad, that in the last week of Ramadan alone, there have been terror attacks in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Turkey. Whereas it is a month of goodwill and charity for others, a month of togetherness and cordiality. So, even on our worst day, we’re an example of someone’s best day. Always keep that in mind! So make sure you’re spending every second of Ramadan worshiping Allah and doing your best to help to make this holy month easier for every Muslim, even by praying for them. Whether you’re spending it alone or with your loved ones. Do it for the sake of Allah, the Almighty!  May Allah make it easy for them, and May Allah easy all of our affairs!

Learn your religion. Do not inherit it.

Writer Review: BENJELLOUN Tahar

Oh God! Tahar BENJELLOUN has been my favorite writer for the past two years. And that is because of two main reasons: 🙈

Firstly, his style of narrating is amazing. It’s so simple yet captivating. Whenever I had the desire to read, his books are my number one refuge. Speaking of his writing style, he has absolutely no shame at displaying his thoughts and what he is truly thinking of. And I must respect him for that because it’s rare to find a Moroccan writer, in my point of view, that can present everything about his life through his writings and manage to be as successful as Tahar is nowadays. Moreover, he is writing for a purpose. He is not writing for a prolific reason, but to satisfy his curiosity. You get to feel and to know by reading his work that he is truly passioned and curious about his culture, the art of literature and that he cares for his community.

Secondly, and as I mentioned before, he is passioned about the art of literature in general. He is a poet, a narrator, a journalist and a storyteller. However, I enjoy his work whether it has been in journals, magazines or books. His writings are in French but they are translated in Arabic and English as well. And what is a review without mentioning my favorite books of BENJELLOUN Tahar? 🔖 Here’s my ultimate favorite two:

“L’auberge Des Pauvres”= The hostel of the poor

“Le Dernier Ami” = The last Friend

My 2016 resolutions

Salam everyone, I hope you’re all doing great!

In the past four years of my life, I’ve found that goals are good for planning your progress and that setting realistic goals has been really helpfull to me. So I’ve decided to share my resolutions & my goals for this year with you guys. There are seven & with no further do, here’s the list:

  • Read more books: well, I know I don’t read as much as I want to… although I really enjoy reading and books have been my escape, but I think I don’t read as much as I need to! So yeah; that should be on the top of the list :p
  • Eat healthier: Oh man! junk food, junk food, junk food… I don’t think I need to say more!!
  • Learn how to cook new meals: yes, and focusing on LEARN because honestly I started to dislike cooking & baking lately. I don’t exactly know why, but all I know is that as long as I’m living alone, I should start learning more about cooking!
  • Have guns: Getting fit in general!! Because if there’s one thing I really know how to do it and I can do it whenever and wherever I want, it would be working out! And I won’t mind some muscular arms 💪💪
  • Visit a new city: traveling is always on my to do list. Unlikely it’s not to a new country.. but no problem! My country, Morocco, is still surprising me by how many cool places I have to explore & visit.
  • Be more organized: Ugh! I seriously get afraid of organization. Idk, it’s just the fact that I found order in disorder. Lol! But I really need to be more organized in my everyday lifestyle.
  • Be more kind to people: Well well well! A lot of my friends & most of the people I know say that I’m a kind person. Some assume that I’m the nicest person, at least that what they told me, Lol! 😀 But, I really wish I could be as nice as people think of me. SubhanAllah at the way Allah hides our faults..

That was it! 😀

So what about you guys!? What are your resolutions for 2016!? Let me know in the comments 😀
